Dark Matter Market exit scam β September 2026
Dark Matterβs collapse shows up earlier than Nexus. Around 13β14 September 2026, users reported deposits still being accepted while withdrawals failed. A market admin post described wallet maintenance and blamed an attack. Commentators on the usual forums pushed back: if withdrawals are broken, deposits should be switched off, and a claim of a law-enforcement attack is not something an admin can prove with a status post.
By the last week of September the mirrors were described as dead, with no maintenance note that brought them back and no seizure page. Monitors writing in early October treated the desk as permanently offline and the escrow as drained β an exit scam, not a mirror rotation.
How this differs from ordinary downtime
- A DDoS usually returns some mirrors, and operators post. An exit is all mirrors down, silence, and balances that never release.
- Anyone offering to recover a Dark Matter balance for a fee is running the follow-up scam.
- Directories that still advertise the old onions a week after the exit are not a source of a live link.
The status page does not list onion addresses: Dark Matter. Those hosts were cleared in the 20 October maintenance and were not restored with the live link list. Related: Nexus.
